Stainless steel 1.4404 piping in an industrial plant

Stainless steel piping for pharma, chemical and food.

We design, fabricate and install piping in stainless steel 1.4301 (304) and 1.4404 (316L) for the most demanding processes in the Basel region. Prefabrication in our workshop in Pratteln, installation on your plant, documentation to your specifications.

Services · Stainless steel

Who it is for

Stainless steel is the material of choice when the medium has to stay pure or the line has to withstand aggressive substances. We build stainless steel lines for:

01

Pharma and biotech

process and utility lines with complete traceability of every section.

02

Chemical

lines for acids, alkalis and solvents, where carbon steel is no longer sufficient.

03

Food and beverages

hygienically welded, cleanable lines without dead legs.

04

Plant utilities

ultrapure water, steam, compressed air, cooling and heating media in industrial plants.

TIG welding of a stainless steel pipe

Materials and processes

As standard we work with 1.4301 (AISI 304) for general applications and 1.4404 (AISI 316L) for chloride-containing media, pharma and food. We assess other stainless steel grades on request.

Welding is by the TIG process, and for series of pipe-to-pipe joints by orbital welding with reproducible weld quality. Root shielding with purging gas is standard for stainless steel. After welding, the welds are pickled and passivated on request, so that the corrosion resistance of the base material is restored.

Connections: welded, with flanges, clamp connections or dairy couplings, depending on the hygiene requirements and maintenance concept of your plant.

Step by step

How we work

  1. Step 01

    Site visit and clarification

medium, pressure, temperature, hygiene class, available space, accessibility.

  2. Step 02

    Quotation and design

isometrics, bill of materials, scope of documentation according to your form.

  3. Step 03

    Prefabrication in Pratteln

spools are welded, tested and given spool numbers in the workshop.

  4. Step 04

    On-site installation

during ongoing operation or in a shutdown, in line with your site's safety rules.

  5. Step 05

    Testing and handover

visual inspection, pressure test or leak test, documentation.

  6. Step 06

    Maintenance

modification, extension and repair over the service life of the plant.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which stainless steel grades do you work with?

As standard 1.4301 (AISI 304) and 1.4404 (AISI 316L). The choice depends on the medium, the temperature and the hygiene requirements of your plant. We assess other materials on request.

Do you prefabricate piping in the workshop?

Yes. Wherever possible we prefabricate pipe sections in our workshop in Pratteln. This shortens installation time on site and reduces the downtime of your plant.

Do you also work during ongoing operation?

Yes. We plan modifications and repairs so that your production is interrupted as little as possible, and coordinate the work with your operations team and your safety requirements.

What documentation do we receive on completion?

You define that when ordering. With the order you complete a form on which you tick the documentation you require in line with your internal specifications: material certificates to EN 10204 (3.1 / 3.2), weld logs with welder assignment, spool numbers for complete traceability, isometrics and as-built drawings, photographic documentation, results of dye penetrant testing (PT), borescope inspection of the root, pressure test and leak test reports, record of pickling and passivation.

Which region do you cover?

Our focus is the Basel region: Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft and the Fricktal. We also work in the rest of north-western Switzerland and in French-speaking Switzerland, for example in Geneva, Lausanne, Fribourg, Neuchâtel and Valais, and in Ticino by arrangement. We speak German and French.
