Chemical production
chlorides, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, mixed acids, alternating oxidising and reducing conditions.

When stainless steel is no longer sufficient, we work with nickel-based alloys such as Hastelloy. For chlorine-containing media, hot acids and combined loads where corrosion would otherwise determine the service life of the plant. Qualified welders, documented welds, workshop in Pratteln.
Hastelloy is used where other materials fail:
chlorides, hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, mixed acids, alternating oxidising and reducing conditions.
reactor periphery, feed and discharge lines for aggressive reagents.
lines with high chloride contents and temperatures.

We work with the Hastelloy grades commonly used in the chemical industry, generally from the C family. Which alloy is suitable depends on the medium; we agree the choice with your materials engineering department.
Nickel-based alloys require their own welding technique: clean preparation, matched filler metal, controlled heat input, root shielding. We weld Hastelloy by the TIG process, and pipe-to-pipe joints by orbital welding where required. Every weld is assigned to the welder and the heat, so that traceability is complete.
We design dissimilar joints to stainless steel or PTFE-lined sections so that no corrosion occurs at the transitions.
